Texas’ buoy border wall may threaten agreements with Mexico

SUMMARY: A federal judge in Texas will rule on the Justice Department's lawsuit against Texas over the border buoys in the Rio Grande next week. Texas argues that the floating barrier is a legal measure to curb illegal immigration, while the Justice Department claims it was put up without a permit in violation of federal and international law. The floating barrier, which is 1000 ft long, was moved closer to the Texas side of the river in response to disputed claims about its location. Supporters of the lawsuit want all the buoys removed, while Governor Greg Abbott defended his border strategy.

Mexico's government has repeatedly raised concerns with the U.S. about large buoys Texas put on the Rio Grande to deter migrants and agreements between the two countries could suffer if the floating barrier remains in place, a State Department official said in court Tuesday. #texas #mexico #immigration

SUMMARY: During a deadly shooting at a Fort Worth car wash on July 4th, a bystander's intervention might have prevented further casualties. The altercation began when 27-year-old Canard Murphy, who had prior domestic violence issues, fought with a relative of his 11-month-old daughter's mother at a gathering. Murphy pulled out a rifle and started shooting, killing three innocent bystanders: two young girls and 42-year-old Terell Win. Murphy was ultimately shot by an unknown person, causing him to drop the rifle, and another individual secured it. Murphy faces multiple capital murder charges and is currently hospitalized, delaying his booking into jail.

Court documents obtained by FOX 4 reveal more about what led to a Fort Worth shooting on the Fourth of July that killed three people, including a 4-year-old and 1-year-old.
