SUMMARY: Family members of the victims from the Texas Killing Fields gathered to remember Heide Villareal, who went missing 40 years ago. Her body, along with three others, was found on Calder Road in the 1980s. The land where Villareal’s body was found now belongs to Magnolia Creek Baptist Church, whose pastor aims to bring peace to the site filled with evil. Despite setbacks, the families remain united and hopeful for justice. In 2014, evidence was presented linking Clyde Hedrick to Villareal and another victim’s murders, though charges did not stick. Tim Miller, Laura Miller’s father, founded Texas Equusearch to independently solve the case.

SUMMARY: Hamas has given initial approval to a U.S.-backed phased cease-fire proposal in Gaza, dropping its demand for an upfront commitment from Israel to end the war. This compromise could lead to the first pause in fighting since November and pave the way for further negotiations. Nonetheless, a final deal is still uncertain. Meanwhile, the Gaza Ministry reports that an Israeli airstrike on a school-turned-shelter killed at least 16 people and injured 50 others. The ongoing conflict involves repeated hostilities between Israel and Hamas. (July 6, 2024, Associated Press)
