21 routes American Airlines is cutting from the Austin airport

SUMMARY: American Airlines has announced that it will be cutting 21 nonstop flights from its schedule at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in 2024. The cuts include six international destinations and 15 domestic destinations, and will be implemented between January and April. This means that eight destinations will no longer have direct service from the airport. American Airlines plans to maintain the current number of nonstop flights to its eight hubs and will offer 53% more seats each day and 19 additional daily departures from Austin in 2024 compared to 2019. American Airlines' passenger numbers at Austin have increased since the COVID-19 pandemic, with almost 5.5 million passengers in 2022 compared to just over 3 million in 2019.

SUMMARY: A driver, 36-year-old Alex Tuan Vuong, has been arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid after allegedly hitting and killing 10-year-old Mohammad Khel on July 4th in Harris County, Texas. Mohammad was struck by a dark SUV while riding his bicycle in the Grand Oaks subdivision. Vuong is currently held in the Harris County jail. Investigators reported that after running a stop sign and hitting Mohammad, the driver continued for nearly a mile with the boy’s bike wedged underneath, before stopping to remove it at Greenhouse and Kieth Harrow.
