Houston runoff elections: All voters need to know as they head back to the polls Nov. 9 to elect next mayor, controller, and more

SUMMARY: The elections in Houston have ended, but several key races are headed to a runoff. The mayor’s race is between State Sen. John Whitmore and U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee. The Houston controller’s race and four out of five at-large city council positions are also going to a runoff. Early voting for the runoff will be from Nov. 27 to Dec. 5, and the runoff voting day is Saturday, Dec. 9. Dallas Police Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting that Left 1 Dead, 2 in Custody

SUMMARY: Dallas police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred around 1 a.m. on South Lancaster Road. Three robbery suspects fled an illegal game room and encountered officers. One suspect pointed a gun at an officer, leading to a struggle in which the officer fired his weapon, hitting the suspect who later died at a hospital. The other two suspects were arrested, and no officers were injured. Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia is expected to provide more details next week.
