Department of Homeland Security Demands Texas Account for Federal Access to Eagle Pass Park.

SUMMARY: The Department of Homeland Security is demanding full access to an Eagle Pass park on the Rio Grande, which is currently fenced off and guarded by the Texas military. Border Patrol agents have been barred from entering Shelby Park, and the DHS wants Texas to provide a full accounting of which areas of the park are accessible to federal agents and the public. This issue has become a concern after Border Patrol agents were prevented from helping to locate and rescue migrants who were reported as drowning in the Rio Grande. Later, three migrants were found dead, including an 8 and 10-year-old child.
