Texas school districts making cuts after state fails to pass funding increase
SUMMARY: Keller ISD is facing a $27 million deficit for the next school year, due to a lack of state funding and failed attempts to implement school vouchers. Other large school districts in Texas are also considering deep budget cuts as a result of inadequate funding. Governor Abbott's refusal to sign a school funding bill without the inclusion of school vouchers has left districts scrambling for ways to operate more efficiently. There is uncertainty surrounding whether Governor Abbott will call lawmakers back to address the funding issue, leaving school districts unsure about their future budgets. Despite this, districts are determined to prevent program elimination and ensure continued education quality.
Texas school districts are faced with making cuts because lawmakers did not increase school funding.
