Texas weather: Residents clean up tornado destruction in Temple | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: Repairs and clean-up efforts were underway in West Temple after a tornado caused significant damage, leaving debris everywhere. The Perez family left their apartment to pick up a friend, Aubrey, who was home alone. En route, they witnessed the devastation firsthand, but managed to reach safety at Aubrey's house, which remained intact, unlike many nearby homes. Joe Baron, who owns 34 rental properties in the hardest-hit Westfield neighborhood, assessed the damage and began immediate repairs, focusing on critical fixes like covering broken windows with tarps and cleaning up glass. Baron emphasized the extensive and long-lasting recovery process, noting the widespread destruction.
The National Weather Service was in the central Texas area inspecting storm damage on Thursday. They say that the tornado in Temple packed winds of more than 120 mph.

Another House Democrat calls for Biden to step down
SUMMARY: House Democrat Angie Craig has joined calls for President Biden to exit the presidential race, as many Democrats doubt his capacity to serve another term. They fear his refusal to acknowledge poll warnings could harm down-ballot races, with critical votes expected to be decided by slim margins. Concerns are especially high in the House, where Democrats see a chance to regain control in November. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is set to meet with top House Democrats, while Senator Mark Warner is working to persuade Biden to step aside. Conversely, Senator John Fetterman supports Biden and criticizes calls for his withdrawal.
