SUMMARY: Encore is making progress in restoring power after a severe storm, though full restoration may take until Saturday. Around 230,000 North Texas residents remain without electricity, with East Dallas, Lake Highlands, and parts of Richardson experiencing the most outages. The utility brought in 5,000 linemen from eight states, and power has been restored to about 400,000 homes and businesses. Another storm could delay efforts. The City of Dallas set up an incident management team for debris removal, and residents are asked to call 311 for service. The cleanup involves 42 crews working around the clock to manage debris and repair approximately 250 traffic signals.

Oncor officials explained the necessary repairs aren't simple. Some areas will need to have transformers and power lines completely reconstructed. And with more stormy weather in the forecast, the process could take days to complete.

SUMMARY: House Democrat Angie Craig has joined calls for President Biden to exit the presidential race, as many Democrats doubt his capacity to serve another term. They fear his refusal to acknowledge poll warnings could harm down-ballot races, with critical votes expected to be decided by slim margins. Concerns are especially high in the House, where Democrats see a chance to regain control in November. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is set to meet with top House Democrats, while Senator Mark Warner is working to persuade Biden to step aside. Conversely, Senator John Fetterman supports Biden and criticizes calls for his withdrawal.
