John Cornyn talks about the big issues Texans are facing | FOX 7 Austin

He criticized Biden's policies as dismantling Trump's work and called recent asylum order a “fig leaf.” Cornyn also commented on former President Trump facing 34 felony counts, describing the charges as politically motivated and predicting Trump's vindication on appeal. Regarding Texas' power grid, Cornyn highlighted federal roles, cyber attack threats, and increased electricity demand due to AI and data centers. He expressed concerns over the state of the nation and global stability, but remained optimistic about America's capacity for corrective action through elections.

Urgent search for Baytown woman last seen with murder suspect before disappearance
SUMMARY: A man in Harris County Jail for murder is now accused of kidnapping 29-year-old Kaye Goodwin, missing from Baytown since April 21st. Quan Flowers, already charged with murdering Megan Rouse in May, kidnapped and assaulted Goodwin, though her whereabouts remain unknown. Goodwin’s mother received a call demanding $600, hearing her daughter’s cries for help. Baytown police, alongside Goodwin’s mother, are pleading for public assistance. Evidence traced to Houston suggested Flowers’ involvement in Goodwin’s case. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Baytown Crime Stoppers, as the community seeks answers and the family longs for peace.

What’s going on with the Lake Livingston Dam? KPRC 2 digs into the problem, finds answers on the fix
SUMMARY: This report highlights two significant issues discovered along the Trinity River, affecting the dam and surrounding infrastructure. The first issue, found in May, involves erosion around a westward training wall, leading to partial failure. The second, discovered last week, involves severe erosion at the base of a support structure near the dam’s apron, prompting federal emergency alerts. In response, the Trinity River Authority is taking three major actions: lowering Lake Livingston’s water level, moving 100 truckloads of rock daily, and pumping concrete for essential repairs. These measures aim to ensure the dam’s safety before any tropical storms hit, with final repairs expected by month’s end.
Nearly a week after the Trinity River Authority declared a “potential failure watch” for the Lake Livingston Dam, we’re learning about the damage done during flooding earlier this year.
