SUMMARY: Officer Daniel Sanchez, who shot and killed Raj Moon Singh in South Austin in 2022, is preparing for trial on a third-degree felony deadly conduct charge. At a recent hearing, Sanchez's attorney, Brad Hilman, stated they are still gathering evidence for trial, which they hope to begin before year-end. Hurricane Beryl makes landfall; here’s what to expect now
SUMMARY: Hurricane Barrel has made landfall near Brazoria and Freeport with sustained winds of 70 mph and gusts up to 90 mph. The storm intensified rapidly before hitting land and, thankfully, did not linger over the Gulf, preventing greater devastation. Now moving inland, Barrel is producing heavy rain and potential flooding, expected to track west of Houston into East Texas. Rainfall will be significant in areas like Palestine, Tyler, and Texarkana. Although Dallas sees some rain, the heaviest bands are breaking apart due to sinking air. The major weather event today will be the rain following the storm into East Texas.

Hurricane Beryl makes landfall in South Texas
SUMMARY: Hurricane Barrel, a Category 1 storm with 80 mph wind speeds, made landfall along the Texas coast minutes ago. Fox Weather meteorologist BR Mwin, reporting from Surfside Beach, 65 miles south of Houston, noted wind speeds in the mid to upper 60s. The heavy rain driven by such winds feels like needles against the skin. Mwin described the storm as a marathon, emphasizing that landfall is a crescendo moment in a lengthy process. Power outages have increased significantly, rising from 15,000 to about 990,000 and are expected to grow as the storm progresses.
