Texas Longhorns open 1st SEC season against rival Texas A&M Aggies

SUMMARY: The Texas volleyball team, reigning back-to-back national champions, announced their 2024 schedule as they join the SEC. Their first-ever SEC match is against Texas A&M on Sept. 27 in College Station, following eight nonconference matches. They open the season at the Women’s Volleyball College Showcase in Milwaukee, facing Wisconsin on Sept. 1 and Minnesota on Sept. 2. Subsequently, they play Indiana, Miami, and Houston at home, then hit the road to face Stanford and Baylor before ending nonconference play against Hawaii. Texas will play a 16-game SEC schedule, featuring five consecutive home matches from Oct. 18 to Nov. 3.

SUMMARY: A driver, 36-year-old Alex Tuan Vuong, has been arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid after allegedly hitting and killing 10-year-old Mohammad Khel on July 4th in Harris County, Texas. Mohammad was struck by a dark SUV while riding his bicycle in the Grand Oaks subdivision. Vuong is currently held in the Harris County jail. Investigators reported that after running a stop sign and hitting Mohammad, the driver continued for nearly a mile with the boy’s bike wedged underneath, before stopping to remove it at Greenhouse and Kieth Harrow.
