The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality forecasts repeated dust plumes until August. Originating from the Sahara Desert, this “aeolian” mineral dust crosses the Atlantic via Trade Winds. While it acts as a fertilizer, aiding ecosystems with iron and phosphorous, it also lowers humidity and impedes daily storms, affecting rain chances. Lake Travis boys finish fourth in national high school golf tournament

SUMMARY: The Lake Travis Cavaliers, winners of the UIL Class 6A boys golf championship, finished fourth at the 2024 PGA High School National Golf Invitational in Frisco, Texas. Lake Travis scored 1-over 865 across three rounds, playing both courses at the PGA complex and an additional course in McKinney. Player Mackey Bennett tied for 19th with a 3-under 213, leading the team. Other team members included Elijah Galvan, Bennett Kuhns, Jack Watters, and Luke Nolan. Wimberley’s Jaxon Donaldson tied for 41st, and Vandegrift will compete in the girls’ tournament starting July 8.
