No injuries reported in house fire near US 183

SUMMARY: The Austin Fire Department responded to a house fire near U.S. Highway 183 in south Austin on Saturday. No injuries were reported. The fire started in a garage in the 4300 block of south U.S. 183 at around 5:15 p.m. and extended to part of the house. Crews battled the blaze and had it under control by shortly before 6 p.m. All residents were able to evacuate safely. As a result, southbound U.S. 183 has one lane open, and drivers should expect delays or use alternate routes. The AFD remained on the scene to check for any “hot spots.”
