Here & Now: The North Texas Behavioral Health Authority

SUMMARY: The North Texas Behavioral Authority (NTBHA) has received a $1.25 million state grant to create a Youth Crisis Outreach Team (YCOT), a pilot program aimed at addressing youth mental health crises. The team will consist of six specialized staff who will work in six counties, responding to crises involving children and adolescents. The YCOT, an extension of the existing Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT), will provide trauma-informed care and support to families in various settings, including homes, schools, and juvenile justice facilities. The program aims to reduce law enforcement interventions and emergency room visits by offering targeted, in-home care for up to 90 days.
