Great Lakes awarded $187 million in dredging contracts
SUMMARY: Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corp. secured two major dredging contracts worth $186.6 million. The Freeport Harbor Channel Improvement Project will deepen the channel to 51-56 feet, making the Port of Freeport the deepest port in Texas and opening the state to larger ships. The second project is maintenance dredging for the Galveston Entrance Channel and Houston Ship Channel, set to begin in H2 2023 and complete by Q1 2024. A Coast Guard Station Galveston Response Boat-Small was dispatched and found the family clinging to the capsized boat. The children were wearing life jackets, but the adults were not.
