19% of Texas school districts, charters did not report bus crash data last year
SUMMARY: Nineteen percent of Texas school districts and charters did not report school bus crash details to the Texas Education Agency last school year. The agency requires data on accidents involving school buses, but 233 districts and charters did not provide this information for the 2022-2023 school year. Some districts have cited oversight as the reason for not reporting, and there has been a history of noncompliance with reporting laws. Despite this, no Texas students died in school bus crashes last year, but six were seriously injured and 34 were injured while not wearing seatbelts.
