5 arrested in Ft. Worth connected to Austin takeovers
SUMMARY: Five people were arrested in North Texas for their involvement in a street takeover in Fort Worth. The same group had organized similar events in Austin. The police responded to a call about a car doing donuts in the intersection, and when officers tried to stop the car, it sped away. Eventually, the car was spiked and the occupants fled on foot. The police arrested five people connected to the organized street takeover group. Similar events had occurred in Austin in February, prompting an investigation and charges against several individuals. The recent incidents have led to new laws and the creation of a street takeover task force in Texas.

Flies in Texas: Are there more right now and why?
SUMMARY: In Texas, residents have observed an unusual rise in fly populations, particularly exacerbated in recent years. The phenomenon, discussed by Central Texans on Reddit, aligns with insights from Texas AgriLife Entomologist Wizzie Brown. She explains that the state's warm climate supports year-round fly activity, with heat accelerating their life cycle, leading to rapid population growth. Climate change is likely worsening the issue, as higher temperatures benefit flies and expand their habitable areas. To manage the infestation, Brown suggests regular trash removal, using outdoor garbage bins, and cleaning these bins with dish soap to eliminate fly-attracting odors.
