Blue Bell unveils new ‘Cinnamon Twist’ ice cream
SUMMARY: Blue Bell Ice Cream released a new flavor called Cinnamon Twist, available in half-gallon and pint sizes for a limited time. The ice cream will be available in Blue Bell's distribution areas beginning Monday and consists of cinnamon bun dough pieces, a cinnamon icing swirl, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Two other ice cream flavors announced to return are I ❤ Cereal and Tin Roof. Blue Bell was founded in 1907 in Brenham, Texas, as the Brenham Creamery Company and expanded out-of-state distribution in the 1980s. Today its products are sold in 23 states.

Police release information on Saturday’s motorcycle fatality
SUMMARY: AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin Police reported a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle on the 2400 block of South MoPac northbound on June 29. The incident occurred around 11:56 p.m. when motorcycle rider Christopher Hale fell off and was subsequently hit by another vehicle. Hale was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle was not impaired, and no occupants were injured. This marks Austin's 38th fatal crash of 2024, with 39 fatalities recorded. Police urge anyone with information to contact APD's Vehicular Homicide unit or submit tips anonymously via Crime Stoppers.

2024 Nathan’s hot dog eating contest: Miki Sudo wins 10th women’s title, breaking record with 51 hot dogs eaten in 10 minutes
SUMMARY: Miki Sudo, a dental hygiene student from Florida, claimed her 10th women’s title at Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest by consuming 51 hot dogs in 10 minutes, setting a new women’s world record. How Austin enforces its fireworks ordinance
SUMMARY: Since Austin adopted its fireworks ordinance, the storage, use, and handling of fireworks within city limits became illegal. Initially, the Austin Fire Department (AFD) managed compliance, deploying engine and truck companies to reported violations. However, this approach burdened the emergency response system and 911 dispatchers. In the late 90s, the city shifted to a 311 hotline for reporting non-emergency violations, transitioning responsibility to the Austin Police Department (APD). Despite this change, AFD maintains a street presence, and the Fire Marshal's Office continues to issue citations and prosecute those responsible for fires caused by fireworks.
