Body Camera Video From UT Southwestern Medical Center In-Custody Death Released

SUMMARY: Body camera footage has been released showing the in-custody death of 41-year-old Kenneth Knotts at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Knotts died after being restrained by officers while faced down on a bed. The incident began when Knotts experienced a flat tire and was later found sitting on top of a white SUV holding an infant. Despite efforts to de-escalate the situation, Knotts resisted arrest and was restrained using a “five-man takedown.” He eventually lost consciousness and medical staff attempted life-saving measures for 43 minutes before he was pronounced dead. The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide, but officers were not indicted. Knotts' family has filed an excessive force lawsuit against the UT System.
