Crash on westbound US 290 blocks lanes near West Gate Boulevard

SUMMARY: A crash on westbound U.S. 290 in south Austin is blocking lanes, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. All lanes are closed just before West Gate Boulevard and traffic is being diverted to South Lamar Boulevard. The Austin Police Department reported the crash is in the 2400 block of West Ben White Boulevard, near South Lamar and 360. All lanes from this area to 360 are closed. 79-year-old dies after single-vehicle crash

SUMMARY: The Austin Police Department identified 79-year-old Gerald Farcus as the victim of a fatal single-vehicle crash on June 28 in south Austin. The accident occurred around 10 a.m. on the 1200 block of West Ben White Boulevard Service Road. Farcus was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. This marks Austin's 37th fatal crash in 2024, resulting in 38 fatalities.
