Fort Bend ISD security guards no longer working at Sullivan, Sugar Mill elementary schools after allegedly leaving guns unattended

SUMMARY: Two security guards at Fort Bend ISD elementary schools were no longer working after separate incidents where they left guns unattended on campus. In both cases, children did not touch the firearms, but the incidents resulted in disciplinary action for the guards. The district confirmed that a guard left a weapon in a staff bathroom at Sullivan Elementary, and another guard left a duty belt with holstered weapons in an empty classroom at Sugar Mill Elementary. The district is reinforcing safety protocols with contracted armed security officers and the guards will not return to any FBISD school campuses.
