Home closing delayed after title company ‘cybersecurity incident’
SUMMARY: A woman in Austin finally closed on her new home after delays due to a cybersecurity incident at the title company, First American Financial Corporation. Realtor Miriam Moorman's client was affected by the cyber incident, which delayed the closing date. The company detected unauthorized activity, prompting a warning to customers about opening suspicious links. Moorman advised caution when clicking on links, especially in real estate transactions. First American's website is now back online, but it is still investigating the breach. The extent of the impact on customers and potential ongoing delays in the closing process remain unclear.

FDA will no longer allow Brominated vegetable oil, a potentially harmful additive found in some sodas
SUMMARY: The US FDA announced it will ban brominated vegetable oil (BVO) in food products starting August 2, with companies given one year to comply. BVO, used in many sodas to stabilize citrus flavoring, has been linked to health risks like nervous system damage and organ damage. The decision follows years of scientific evidence and consumer advocacy, including a significant 2012 Change.org petition. Many manufacturers had already started to eliminate BVO. California has also banned BVO along with other harmful substances. Until the ban takes effect, consumers are advised to monitor their intake and check product ingredients for BVO.
