Iceland volcano erupts, sending lava flowing toward nearby town – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

SUMMARY: A volcano in southwestern Iceland has erupted for the second time in less than a month, with semi-molten rock flowing toward the town of Grindavik. The community was evacuated after a swarm of earthquakes, but residents were previously allowed to return in December. The nearby Blue Lagoon geothermal spa also closed temporarily due to the eruption. Defensive walls around the volcano aimed to direct magma away from the town, but have been breached and lava is moving toward the community. ‘Firecracker Open’ shows off new improvements to Lions Municipal Golf Course
