Joe Biden should drop out
SUMMARY: The New York Times editorial board has called for President Biden to suspend his re-election campaign following a poor debate performance against former President Trump. Noting Biden's struggles during the debate and emphasizing concerns over his age and mental competency, the board argues Biden no longer presents a strong enough rationale based solely on his 2020 victory over Trump. While Biden's campaign insists he will continue to run, The Times and The Economist suggest Biden should make way for a new Democratic candidate to better protect American democracy. Despite Biden's efforts to rally support, the opinion pieces stress that suspending his campaign would be his greatest public service.

Despite never having contact with a male stingray, she was found to be pregnant in February, which puzzled scientists due to the rarity of such occurrences. In May, it was revealed she had a rare reproductive disease, marking an unexpected and sad turn in her medical condition. The aquarium shared on social media that they are working with Charlotte’s medical team and will remain temporarily closed as they continue to care for their other animals.

Austin Animal Center shuts down intake, says shelter at ‘crisis point,’ memo says
SUMMARY: The Austin Animal Center (AAC) is closing animal intake to the public due to reaching critical capacity, as stated in a memo from AAC Chief Animal Services Officer Don Bland. Effective July 2, the center will stop accepting owner-surrendered and healthy stray animals but will continue to take in animals that pose a public safety risk or have life-threatening conditions. Currently, AAC is dealing with an influx, averaging 14 more animals weekly than it can find homes for. To address this, they are using private boarding facilities and working with foster and rescue organizations, while also waiving adoption fees. For assistance, residents should contact 311. Intake will reopen once appropriate kennel space is available.
