SUMMARY: The San Marcos City Council approved an incentive program for a new Buc-ee's location along Interstate 35. The program includes a 50% sales tax refund over 15 years if the development moves forward. The planned Buc-ee's will be 74,000 square feet with 120 gas pumps and up to 175 electric vehicle charging spots. The company plans to invest $50 million, create 175 full-time jobs with an average salary of $44,000 a year. Economists believe Buc-ee's will have a positive economic impact on the area, but some argue that the tax rebate agreement is unfair to competitors and goes against free market capitalism.

SUMMARY: In a significant ruling, the Supreme Court decided 6-3 that former presidents have immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts while in office, but not for unofficial acts. Justice Sonia Sotomayor's dissent expressed deep concern, arguing it creates near-absolute presidential immunity, potentially leading to abuses of power. The ruling influences the delay in Donald Trump's 2020 election subversion case as courts discern which actions are protected. Justices Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson joined Sotomayor, stressing the long-term impact on constitutional democracy. Chief Justice John Roberts defended the decision, emphasizing the necessity of presidential powers while cautioning against routine prosecutions of ex-presidents.

KXAN had previously reported on the initial dashboard covering high-level crimes. These new dashboards stem from a 2023 city council resolution. A snapshot of calls for service from 2019 to present is also provided, but there's no timeline for the completion of the remaining dashboards.
