Punxsutawney Phil could blame climate change if he gets it wrong – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
SUMMARY: Groundhog Day has become synonymous with relying on the prediction of whether winter will end soon or last another six weeks. Despite Punxsutawney Phil's renowned reputation, recent data shows that weather forecasting is becoming less reliable as climate change is affecting the groundhog's capacity to predict future weather accurately. Meteorologists admit there is no scientific basis for the reliability of Phil's predictions. However, the independent nonprofit research group Climate Central found that the groundhog's predictions are only accurate 40% of the time. Advocates for animal rights and ethical treatment like PETA want to replace Phil with artificial intelligence or even a giant gold coin to improve accuracy as climate changes.

SUMMARY: A third suspect was arrested in connection with the deadly June 15 shooting at a Juneteenth celebration in Round Rock, Texas.
