Sexual assault lawsuit against NFL QB Dak Prescott tossed out – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
SUMMARY: A sexual assault case against Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was dismissed due to insufficient evidence, per Dallas police. Prescott's attorney, Levi McCathern, credited his client for openness during the investigation and labeled the allegations as a money grab, initiated for extortion. Prescott felt validated by the court's ruling and the police's investigation. McCathern criticized the plaintiff and her attorneys for their actions and indicated that a motion for sanctions against them would be heard on September 13. The plaintiff had earlier claimed an assault in 2017, which Prescott denied, countering with a lawsuit over a $100 million extortion attempt.

Austin Animal Center shuts down intake, says shelter at ‘crisis point,’ memo says
SUMMARY: The Austin Animal Center (AAC) is closing animal intake to the public due to reaching critical capacity, as stated in a memo from AAC Chief Animal Services Officer Don Bland. Effective July 2, the center will stop accepting owner-surrendered and healthy stray animals but will continue to take in animals that pose a public safety risk or have life-threatening conditions. Currently, AAC is dealing with an influx, averaging 14 more animals weekly than it can find homes for. To address this, they are using private boarding facilities and working with foster and rescue organizations, while also waiving adoption fees. For assistance, residents should contact 311. Intake will reopen once appropriate kennel space is available.
