Survivor of North Texas gas balloon crash dies – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

SUMMARY: During an exclusive interview with NBC 5 in November, Polish pilots Krzysztof Zapart and Peter Halas were heading home after a crash in Kaufman County. Sadly, Zapart died last week in another crash in Eastern Europe. His friend Israel Alfaro had planned to keep in touch with him and cheer him on as he attempted to break a world record. Zapart and two others died after crashing a gas balloon in Eastern Europe, and details were similar to the crash Zapart survived in Texas. Zapart's friend Alfaro is saddened and reflecting on their last moments together. Piotr Halas, the copilot in the Texas crash, is still recovering from his injuries and is deeply affected by the of Zapart's death.
