Tesla sales fall for second straight quarter despite price cuts, but decline not as bad as expected
SUMMARY: Tesla’s global sales declined for the second consecutive quarter despite price reductions and low-interest financing offers, indicating weak demand for its electric vehicles. The company sold 443,956 vehicles from April to June, a 4.8% drop from the same period last year. Despite this, sales exceeded analysts’ expectations, pushing Tesla’s stock up by 10%. The EV market shows slowing growth, with Tesla facing significant competition. Most sales were from the cheaper Models 3 and Y. Analysts believe the worst may be over for Tesla, though model aging, price cuts, and Musk’s contentious actions have impacted the brand’s appeal. Tesla plans a new robotaxi reveal in August.

Man finishes decades-long project, a history book about Texas sheriffs, as wife’s dying wish
SUMMARY: Ronnie Erwin, alongside his late wife Lynn, spent over 25 years compiling “Stars Over Texas,” a book detailing the history of every sheriff's office in Texas. They gathered information from libraries, archives, museums, and sheriff's offices. When Lynn was diagnosed with a terminal illness, her dying wish was for Ronnie to complete the book alone. Ronnie fulfilled her wish and now shares the book with sheriffs across Texas, dedicating it to Lynn. The Sheriffs' Association of Texas has also established the Lynn M. Erwin Memorial Award, set to be presented in July.
