SUMMARY: The song ‘Ode to the Texas Rangers' was an unofficial anthem for the Texas Rangers during their early years. It was played before every game at the original Arlington Stadium from 1975 to 1980. The song, a blend of bluegrass and country, was recorded by Mark Singletary after a chance connection led him to Arlington Stadium. It played during countless games and became a beloved tune among Rangers fans. Although the song's airtime came to an end in 1980, it holds a special place in the history of the team and was eventually added to the Baseball Hall of Fame's historical library.

SUMMARY: Since Austin adopted its fireworks ordinance, the storage, use, and handling of fireworks within city limits became illegal. Initially, the Austin Fire Department (AFD) managed compliance, deploying engine and truck companies to reported violations. However, this approach burdened the emergency response system and 911 dispatchers. In the late 90s, the city shifted to a 311 hotline for reporting non-emergency violations, transitioning responsibility to the Austin Police Department (APD). Despite this change, AFD maintains a street presence, and the Fire Marshal's Office continues to issue citations and prosecute those responsible for fires caused by fireworks.
