Toyota recall: Toyota, GM urge owners of old Corolla, Matrix and RAV4 models to park them until airbags are replaced

SUMMARY: Toyota and General Motors have issued an urgent warning for owners of approximately 61,000 older Corolla, Matrix, RAV4, and Pontiac Vibe models to stop driving them due to the risk of their Takata air bag inflators exploding and causing injury or death. The warning covers certain Corolla and Matrix models from 2003 and 2004, along with the RAV4 from 2004 and 2005, as well as about 11,000 Pontiac Vibes from 2003 and 2004. Toyota and GM have advised owners to contact local dealers for repairs and have provided options such as mobile repair, towing, or vehicle pickup and delivery. Takata’s faulty air bag inflators have caused at least 26 deaths in the U.S. and 30 worldwide.
