Wisconsin man gets prison sentence for video showing monkey being tortured – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

SUMMARY: Kenneth Herrera of Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin was sentenced to a year and a day in prison for causing the creation and distribution of a of a monkey being tortured. He was also fined $5,000 and ordered to serve three years of supervised release. This was under the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act, making it illegal to cause the creation or distribution of depictions of “animal crushing.” Herrera pleaded guilty to the charge and his attorney issued a statement saying he is sorry for his wrongdoing. Agents found evidence that he sent money to a videographer in Indonesia in exchange for a video of a monkey being physically abused.
