14-year-old JaDynn Jones missing from Mission Bend
SUMMARY: Shirley Map is desperate for help in locating her 14-year-old son, Jaden Jones, who went missing on June 15th from their Richmond home in the Withers Ridge neighborhood. Jaden, who has special needs, vanished after a behavioral incident during which his toys were taken away. He is often found at the Four Corners Recreation Center or a local convenience store in Sugarland, but despite exhaustive searches, he remains missing. Jaden’s mother is particularly worried because his trusting and friendly nature could make him vulnerable. Avoiding injuries with fireworks
SUMMARY: The Fourth of July fireworks, a cherished American tradition, can be hazardous if not handled safely. A report from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reveals eight deaths and nearly 9,700 emergency room visits from fireworks-related injuries last year. Young teens (15-19) and children (5-9) were the most affected. Dr. David Persse, Chief Medical Officer for Houston, advises constant adult supervision, using a competent and attentive adult, and having water handy. For serious injuries, keep foreign objects in place and call 911. Dr. Persse suggests public fireworks shows like Houston’s “Freedom Over Texas” as safe alternatives.

Whistleblower reports abuse at Dallas Co. juvie center
SUMMARY: Some clergy members are demanding answers after a whistleblower exposed harsh conditions for juveniles at the Henry Wade Justice Center in Dallas. They describe the conditions as inhumane and are urging Dallas County officials to take immediate action. The Dallas Black Clergy held an emergency meeting where individuals who previously stayed at the facility shared traumatic experiences. Complaints include youths being locked in rooms for 23 hours, lack of light, and unsanitary conditions such as insects and mold. Executive Director Darl Betty contested these claims, stating the facility appeared clean and the youths were engaged in watching television. The clergy hopes to meet with the Dallas County Juvenile Board soon.
