Despite being in the center of the cone of concern for Tropical Storm Barry, expected to become Hurricane Barry again, the area looks normal with people enjoying the beach and resorts. Hotels are crowded with visitors. The hotel staff mentioned expecting some water, but activities continue as usual. SUMMARY: A North Texas couple, Tabitha and Carrie Sullivan from Salina, were injured in a shark attack on South Padre Island. Carrie suffered minor injuries while Tabitha had her left calf severely bitten, requiring surgery and a lengthy recovery. The incident occurred when they ventured past a sandbar. The shark pursued Tabitha into shallow water where Carrie intervened to fend it off. Eyewitness Kyle Jud recorded the aftermath as officials tracked the shark. Four people were injured in total, marking an unprecedented situation for the area, which last saw a shark bite five years ago. Tabitha's future mobility remains uncertain.
