Austin enters stage 2 of Drought Contingency Plan | FOX 7 Austin

www.youtube.com – FOX 7 Austin – 2023-08-15 22:15:46

SUMMARY: The city of Austin has implemented stage two water restrictions due to low water storage levels. This follows stage one drought restrictions that were issued in June. The stage two restrictions include limiting watering to once a week, shortening irrigation times, and implementing an odd or even address schedule for outdoor watering. Restaurants will only serve water upon request, and patio misters can only operate between 4pm and midnight. Those who do not follow the restrictions may be fined up to $1000, with enforcement patrols in place. The goal is to increase awareness and rely on voluntary compliance.

According to Austin Water, the stage two restrictions prohibit water waste, charity car washes, and the use of large fountains.

www.youtube.com – FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth – 2024-07-03 21:53:00

SUMMARY: Fort Worth Police, alongside community leaders, are ramping up safety measures after a mass shooting at last year's block party in the Como neighborhood killed three people. They are increasing patrols and surveillance for the July 4th celebrations to prevent a repeat incident. The Como Fest on July 3rd is a family-friendly event, but last year's after-hours block party turned violent. Police emphasize they are not over-policing but ensuring safety. Community members express frustration with those causing violence, stating it does not reflect the neighborhood's spirit. Fireworks should not be reported via 911 but through an online system or app.

A year after a mass shooting at a block party killed three people, Fort Worth police are making sure holiday celebrations in the Como neighborhood remain safe this year.
