Bomb squad investigation in Cedar Park linked to explosion at St. David’s: APD | FOX 7 Austin

SUMMARY: Residents of Cedar Park were evacuated while the FBI and the Austin Police Bomb Squad investigated an object at the Cypress Gardens Apartments. It was discovered that the apartment complex is owned by the same man who was arrested for an explosion near St. David's Medical Center the previous day. The suspect, 38-year-old Raymond Garner, has been charged with a third-degree felony relating to components of explosives. Yesterday, there was an explosion in the parking garage of the medical center, but no injuries were reported. Officials are currently investigating Garner's home.

Here & Now: The North Texas Behavioral Health Authority

SUMMARY: The North Texas Behavioral Authority (NTBHA) has received a $1.25 million state grant to create a Youth Crisis Outreach Team (YCOT), a pilot program aimed at addressing youth mental health crises. The team will consist of six specialized staff who will work in six counties, responding to crises involving children and adolescents. The YCOT, an extension of the existing Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT), will provide trauma-informed care and support to families in various settings, including homes, schools, and juvenile justice facilities. The program aims to reduce law enforcement interventions and emergency room visits by offering targeted, in-home care for up to 90 days. A new program will create a youth crisis outreach team to help North Texas children. The North Texas Behavioral Health Authority just received a more than $1 million grant. FOX 4's Shaun Rabb has more on how it will work in this week's Here & Now.

Police still searching for North Austin deadly shooting suspect | FOX 7 Austin

SUMMARY: The Austin Police Department has released a new of a suspect in the murder of 34-year-old Joshua Kak, who was shot and killed at an apartment complex on Dryfield Drive in North Austin. Detectives are seeking help from anyone with video footage related to the homicide and are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. This case is being investigated as Austin's 32nd homicide of 2024.
