SUMMARY: Texas lawmakers in the House approved a state Senate plan for increased border security funding and are now debating a more divisive Senate proposal to make illegal border crossings a state crime. The House has been debating two controversial border security bills, including one pertaining to the expansion of a border wall. The bill providing over a billion dollars to help secure the southern border is one step closer to making it to the governor's desk, and it would allocate $1.5 billion for the maintenance, operation, and construction of border barrier infrastructure. There are concerns about the bill, with Democrats speaking out against it and some Republicans defecting from their support.

A bill that would provide over a billion dollars to help secure the southern border got the green light from the Texas House on Tuesday. Lawmakers are also reviewing a bill that would make entering Texas illegally a state crime. #borderwall #bordersecurity #immigration

SUMMARY: A severe storm named Barrel is impacting areas near Houston with tornado warnings issued east of Liberty. Earlier, experienced a tornado and a 94 mph wind gust around Freeport. Although the storm's eye is beginning to fill in, it remains strong, moving north towards Houston's western suburbs. Unexpectedly, four days ago, no computer models predicted this path. Those models serve as guidance, not absolute truth. The storm is projected to track into East Texas and the Arklatex, avoiding our area but bringing significant rainfall, with 6-10 inches already near the coast and heavy rain extending to regions like Palestine and Red River County.

Hurricane Beryl made landfall on Monday morning, knocking out power to thousands along Texas' Gulf Coast. FOX 4's Evan Andrews is tracking the storm and telling you where it is headed next.
