SUMMARY: The city of Austin has received a $4 million grant from the EPA to create a reuse warehouse as part of their recycling program. The warehouse will accept furniture donations and redistribute them to non-profits working to furnish transitional homes for the homeless. The goal is to have the warehouse operational by 2026. The grant funding will go towards securing space and equipment for the warehouse. This warehouse is seen as a valuable asset in Austin's efforts to address homelessness and achieve zero waste by 2040, providing an alternative to sending furniture to the landfill.

The Environmental Protection Agency selected the City of Austin to receive a $4 million dollar grant to create a reuse warehouse that will accept furniture donations from residents and then redistribute them to non-profits working on transitional housing for the homeless.
