Eminent domain fight over state park remains in limbo
SUMMARY: Dallas-based developer, Sean Todd, is facing criminal charges as the state tries to stop his plans to turn a former state park, Fairfield Lake State Park, into a housing development. Todd purchased thousands of acres, including the closed park, but the state is now attempting to seize the property through eminent domain. Todd asserts that it is a matter of property rights and intends to move forward with his development. The Texas Park and Wildlife Commission voted unanimously to seize the property, while some residents support Todd's property rights and others side with the state's action. Todd's attorney plans to fight the state throughout the process.
The state is trying to take back the property, which includes Fairfield Lake State Park, through the use of eminent domain, but the Dallas-based developer isn't backing down.
