Federal charges in NYC day care death
SUMMARY: Federal charges have been brought against two suspects after a one-year-old boy died from fentanyl exposure at a daycare. The authorities are also searching for the husband of the daycare operator, as court papers indicate his involvement. Three young babies from the same daycare were hospitalized due to drug exposure, with the youngest being just eight months old. It has been revealed that the daycare was used as a drug operation with large amounts of fentanyl being stored there. The father of the deceased one-year-old expressed his expectation of his child’s safety at daycare. Investigators found a kilo of fentanyl on the baby’s play mats, stored in a closet. The daycare operator claims to have had no knowledge of the drugs, but prosecutors say she tried to cover her tracks after finding the baby unconscious. Surveillance footage allegedly shows the husband entering and leaving the daycare empty-handed, later deleting texts. The babies that survived are now all home from the hospital.

Hays County district clerk resigns | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: Avery Anderson, elected at 19, faced numerous issues during his tenure, including failing to send jury summons, subpoenas, and protective orders. Attorneys Khloe Love and Thomas filed a lawsuit to remove him in September 2023, citing widespread concerns about his competence. In February, a judge found Anderson incompetent. A hearing was held last month to consider his temporary removal, but Anderson resigned instead, avoiding a potentially embarrassing trial. He denied incompetence in his resignation letter, attributing his errors to inexperience. District Attorney Kelly Higgins welcomed the resignation, anticipating better collaboration moving forward. Angela Shen reported for Fox 7 Austin News.
