Fort Worth considers plan to upgrade Gateway Park
SUMMARY: Fort Worth's largest park, Gateway Park, is up for a significant upgrade, with the city council voting on a new Master Plan today. The 800-acre park could see a multi-million dollar renovation, totaling $140 million. The Parks and Recreation Department has $8 million allocated from a 2022 bond, and the Tarrant Regional Water District will provide $6.6 million, with the remaining funds potentially coming from public-private partnerships. The renovation aims to add features like an expanded disc golf course, dog park, mountain bike hub, elevated viewing platform, boardwalk, splash pad, and skate park. Phase one could begin in March 2026 and last a year.
The largest park in Fort Worth could be in line for a major upgrade with a vote by the city council. FOX 4's Tisia Muzinga reports live from Gateway Park with a look at the new master plan.
