SUMMARY: The Fort Worth ISD school board voted unanimously to approve a proposed budget cut of $43.6 million, but stated that classroom teachers will not be impacted. The specific departments and employees affected by the cuts have not been announced, but Superintendent Angelica Ramsey plans to begin notifying affected employees and holding meetings this week. The district currently has a lot of vacancies, and an internal job fair will be set up for affected employees to find other opportunities within the district. The budget deficit is attributed to declining enrollment, federal funding running out, and a lack of increased public school funding from the legislature.

Fort Worth ISD Board decided to not cut teachers from its staff in this round of layoffs, but it has not said who or which departments will see the cuts.

SUMMARY: A man in Harris County Jail for murder is now accused of kidnapping 29-year-old Kaye Goodwin, missing from Baytown since April 21st. Quan Flowers, already charged with murdering Megan Rouse in May, kidnapped and assaulted Goodwin, though her whereabouts remain unknown. Goodwin’s mother received a call demanding $600, hearing her daughter’s cries for help. Baytown police, alongside Goodwin’s mother, are pleading for public assistance. Evidence traced to Houston suggested Flowers’ involvement in Goodwin’s case. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Baytown Crime Stoppers, as the community seeks answers and the family longs for peace.

What’s going on with the Lake Livingston Dam? KPRC 2 digs into the problem, finds answers on the fix

Published

on

www.youtube.com – KPRC 2 Click2Houston – 2024-07-03 19:00:30

SUMMARY: This report highlights two significant issues discovered along the Trinity River, affecting the dam and surrounding infrastructure. The first issue, found in May, involves erosion around a westward training wall, leading to partial failure. The second, discovered last week, involves severe erosion at the base of a support structure near the dam’s apron, prompting federal emergency alerts. In response, the Trinity River Authority is taking three major actions: lowering Lake Livingston’s water level, moving 100 truckloads of rock daily, and pumping concrete for essential repairs. These measures aim to ensure the dam’s safety before any tropical storms hit, with final repairs expected by month’s end.

Nearly a week after the Trinity River Authority declared a “potential failure watch” for the Lake Livingston Dam, we’re learning about the damage done during flooding earlier this year.
