Fort Worth street takeover leads to 5 arrests

SUMMARY: Five people are facing charges after a street takeover in Fort Worth ended in a police chase. The suspects used a key fob programmer to steal two Dodge vehicles. This same organized group was involved in a previous street takeover in Austin. Police had received a tip that a street takeover might happen, so officers were nearby. When officers arrived at the scene, spectators were filming and the suspects were motioning for pedestrians to block the police vehicle. The suspects were eventually apprehended and found to be in possession of stolen vehicles with fake license plates. Two of the individuals arrested are minors.

Drivers did donuts and shot off fireworks before leading police on a chase. Fort Worth police say that the drivers have been causing problems across the state. #streettakeover #fortworth #

The latest update at 1:00 PM shows it remains a tropical system, but it’s projected to intensify into a Category 1 hurricane near the Texas coast, particularly around Corpus Christi and Victoria.
