Fridge donated to Fort Worth non-profit after theft
SUMMARY: In Fort Worth, Texas, a community refrigerator in the Stop Six neighborhood, operated by the nonprofit organization Funkytown Fruit, was stolen last week. The fridge, which provides free food to those in need, was taken during the night. The founder of the grassroots collective, Rebecca Butcher, suspected that someone had been watching her. However, after news of the incident aired, a community member offered to donate a fridge and others have provided cash and food donations. The nonprofit serves five neighborhoods and aims to address food insecurity, particularly in Black communities where access to fresh food is limited. A new fridge is expected to be installed in about a month.
Shortly after the story aired on FOX 4 on Monday evening, Funky Town Fridge's founder said someone offered to donate a new refrigerator.

Hays County district clerk resigns | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: Avery Anderson, elected at 19, faced numerous issues during his tenure, including failing to send jury summons, subpoenas, and protective orders. Attorneys Khloe Love and Thomas filed a lawsuit to remove him in September 2023, citing widespread concerns about his competence. In February, a judge found Anderson incompetent. A hearing was held last month to consider his temporary removal, but Anderson resigned instead, avoiding a potentially embarrassing trial. He denied incompetence in his resignation letter, attributing his errors to inexperience. District Attorney Kelly Higgins welcomed the resignation, anticipating better collaboration moving forward. Angela Shen reported for Fox 7 Austin News.
