How long will Texas’ electric rates be this high? Ask Amy

Published

on

www.youtube.com – KPRC 2 Click2Houston – 2024-06-25 06:59:33

SUMMARY: Electricity bills are rising not just due to heat but also because rates are significantly higher, currently about 35% more than last year. The average new 12-month plan costs around 16.7 cents per kilowatt-hour, up from 11 cents last year, causing Houston customers to pay roughly $120 more monthly. While energy companies profit, natural gas prices remain low. Texas is investing $10 billion to build new power plants, but prices may stay high for 2-3 years. To save on electricity, sign up for a 2-3 year fixed-rate plan, avoid gimmicks, and use Power to Choose or call providers for better rates. Watch “Ask Amy” for more details.

Shopping around for the best electricity rates is something Investigator Amy Davis gets a lot of questions about. In this week’s Ask Amy: shopping for the lowest electricity rates and why signing up for the deals and gimmicks may not be a good idea.

Democratic congressman calls for Joe Biden to drop out of presidential race | FOX 7 Austin

Published

on

www.youtube.com – FOX 7 Austin – 2024-07-03 06:27:22

SUMMARY: The decision to speak out forcefully stemmed from widespread dissatisfaction with both Trump and Biden, and the belief that President Biden failed to effectively defend his position or refute Trump's lies. Constituents in the Austin area, running 10 to 1, express desire for a different candidate. Additionally, a Supreme Court decision granting immunity to Trump poses risks to democracy. The speaker advocates for a fresh Democratic candidate, believing it could disrupt Trump's campaign, which is built on criticizing Biden. Despite political risks, the speaker, concerned about potential autocracy under Trump, urges Biden to prioritize the country and consider stepping down.

Texas Democratic congressman Lloyd Doggett is the first member of his party to publicly come out and say he thinks President Joe Biden should withdraw from the 2024 race. Doggett shares why with FOX 7 Austin's John Krinjak.
