Ice Storm Warning for Dallas-Fort Worth brings more traffic, infrastructure concerns

Published

on

SUMMARY: The recent ice storm in Central Texas is causing major disruptions in the trucking industry. Some companies and independent truckers have decided to shut down until the worst of the weather is over. Truck stops in the area are also experiencing fuel shortages, preventing trucks from being able to refuel. This has created a backlog of stranded trucks at truck stops. Additionally, the freezing rain has made road conditions extremely dangerous for truckers, leading some to stay off the roads. The Texas Trucking Association explains that it is not uncommon for big companies to park their trucks during severe weather to ensure the safety of their drivers and cargo. Fortunately, the weather is expected to improve by the weekend, potentially resolving the fuel supply issues.

Roads across North Texas remain in rough shape thanks to winter weather. And some will probably get worse Wednesday with more wintry precipitation in the forecast.

Attorneys Khloe Love and Thomas filed a lawsuit to remove him in September 2023, citing widespread concerns about his competence. In February, a judge found Anderson incompetent. A hearing was held last month to consider his temporary removal, but Anderson resigned instead, avoiding a potentially embarrassing trial. He denied incompetence in his resignation letter, attributing his errors to inexperience. District Attorney Kelly Higgins welcomed the resignation, anticipating better collaboration moving forward. Angela Shen reported for Fox 7 Austin .

www.youtube.com – KPRC 2 Click2Houston – 2024-07-05 19:28:00

SUMMARY: Meteorologist Anthony provides an update on Hurricane Barrel, which is nearing northern Mexico with a well-defined eye, moving West Northwest at 15 mph and winds at 65 mph. Expected to intensify, it’s shifting rightward, affecting Corpus Christi less and potentially hitting Matagorda Bay directly by Monday. A hurricane watch is in effect from Matagorda County to South Texas, with storm surges from three to five feet. Concerns stem from potential rightward movement towards Southeast Texas, not stalling like Harvey in 2017. Models show varying impacts, but significant rainfall (up to 7 inches) is expected in Southeast Texas, with flooding risks on Monday and Tuesday.
