SUMMARY: The state has rested its case in the Mariah Wilson murder trial after presenting 42 witnesses, including those who knew Wilson and crime scene specialists. The defense began their case by calling a latent print examiner who testified that none of the prints found at the crime scene matched the defendant, Kaitlyn Armstrong. They also questioned an APD officer who initially arrested Armstrong, as well as expert witnesses in DNA and forensic metallurgy. The metallurgist criticized the process of firearm identification as unscientific, and the DNA consultant discussed transfer DNA. DNA evidence was found on Wilson's bike and the guns discovered at Strickland's home. The defense emphasized the possibility of DNA transfer and questioned the reliability of DNA evidence.

The state rested their case, so it was the defense's turn to call their expert witnesses to the stand in the murder trial of Kaitlin Armstrong.
