Memorial Day weekend: Boat safety on central Texas lakes | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: Texas game wardens anticipate a busy weekend on Lake Austin, similar to Fourth of July crowds. To ensure safety, they remind boaters to carry required equipment such as life jackets, especially for children 12 and under while moving, and an engine cut-off switch device. They advise having a designated driver if consuming alcohol, who knows how to operate the boat. Non-compliance can lead to tickets or jail. Personal watercraft like jet skis are banned until Tuesday due to congestion risks. A recent incident involved a boat sinking, resulting in the death of a 14-year-old. Last year, Texas saw 175 boating accidents and 28 fatalities.
Texas game wardens are reminding boaters about safety protocols ahead of what's expected to be a busy holiday weekend on the lakes.

SCOTUS rules on presidential immunity | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: On the final day of its term, the Supreme Court issued a significant ruling affecting Donald Trump and possibly all former and future presidents regarding prosecution for actions taken while in office. In a 6-3 decision, the Court granted former presidents broad protections for their official acts, complicating Special Counsel Jack Smith's election interference case against Trump. Chief Justice John Roberts stated that a president might not be prosecuted for exercising core constitutional powers, while Justice Sonia Sotomayor dissented, arguing it undermines the principle that no one is above the law. The decision has spurred significant backlash from Democrats.
The Supreme Court ruled on presidential immunity, and the decision came down to ideological lines. For now, Former President Donald Trump's election interference case remains on hold.
