SUMMARY: discovered in similar circumstances. The Austin Police are still investigating the cause of death and are considering the possibility of foul play. The family of one of the victims believes these incidents could be connected, despite the official report stating accidental drowning as the cause of death. The families are demanding answers and change from the city.

What’s going on with the Lake Livingston Dam? KPRC 2 digs into the problem, finds answers on the fix

Published

www.youtube.com – KPRC 2 Click2Houston – 2024-07-03 19:00:30

SUMMARY: This report highlights two significant issues discovered along the Trinity River, affecting the dam and surrounding infrastructure. The first issue, found in May, involves erosion around a westward training wall, leading to partial failure. The second, discovered last week, involves severe erosion at the base of a support structure near the dam’s apron, prompting federal emergency alerts. In response, the Trinity River Authority is taking three major actions: lowering Lake Livingston’s water level, moving 100 truckloads of rock daily, and pumping concrete for essential repairs. These measures aim to ensure the dam’s safety before any tropical storms hit, with final repairs expected by month’s end.

Nearly a week after the Trinity River Authority declared a “potential failure watch” for the Lake Livingston Dam, we’re learning about the damage done during flooding earlier this year.
