North Texas musician’s home destroyed in New Mexico wildfires

SUMMARY: A wildfire in New Mexico has devastated homes and claimed lives, including that of musician Patrick Pearson. Dave Milsap, a former Fort Worth resident and musician, lost his New Mexico home to the fire. Milsap recalled the surreal moment of fleeing while seeing flames engulf his house. He and his wife, along with other evacuees, are currently staying in a hotel. In response, Jordan Miller from Rui Doo's Deuce's Bar in North Texas is collecting donations to support affected residents. Over 1,400 structures have been destroyed, with Deuce's Bar collecting essential items and planning a relief trip to New Mexico.

A former Fort Worth resident described the feeling of turning away from his new home in New Mexico as he watched it burn down.

Trinity River Authority declares ‘potential failure watch’ on Lake Livingston Dam

SUMMARY: This morning, we continue to monitor Lake Livingston Dam following an advisory from the Trinity River Authority of Texas about a potential dam failure. According to the Liberty County Emergency Office, there's no need to panic. People are still fishing near the dam, despite the advisory. The advisory stems from the spillway being affected by recent heavy rain and flooding, although the threat of failure is considered remote. Normal dam operations will continue but may vary depending on conditions. Law enforcement is on-site to ensure safety. We'll provide updates as new information becomes available. Dallas police fatally shoot man who threatened woman with knife in Far North Dallas, DPD says

SUMMARY: At 6:45 PM, police responded to a disturbance call at 5850 Bel Line Road. Preliminary investigations revealed a man committed aggravated assault with a knife inside a tent. Upon arrival, officers found the suspect and a woman in the tent. The man refused orders to drop the knife, leading officers to use less-lethal methods, but he advanced towards them, prompting officers to fire. The suspect was taken to a hospital where he died. The woman had non-serious injuries, and officers were unharmed. The District Attorney's Office and the Office of Community Police Oversight were notified, and a press conference is scheduled for Monday.
